Mandatory notices

Prevention of the commercial sexual exploitation of children and adolescents — Ley 679 de 2001 and Ley 1336 de 2009

Muisca Travel & Events SAS rejects and works to prevent the commercial sexual exploitation of children and adolescents (ESCNNA) in tourism. In compliance with Ley 679 de 2001 and Ley 1336 de 2009 we warn all our clients, guests, and suppliers that the sexual exploitation and abuse of minors is punishable under criminal and administrative law in Colombia, pursuant to Articles 213 and following of Ley 599 de 2000 (the Colombian Penal Code). Muisca™ applies the code of conduct for tourism service providers established by Resolución 3840 de 2009 of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism (MinCIT): it does not offer or facilitate, directly or indirectly, any service involving minors; trains its team; requires the same commitment from its suppliers; and reports any incident it becomes aware of to the authorities. Anyone can report cases to the ICBF hotline 141 or to the National Police.

Protection of wild fauna and flora — Ley 17 de 1981, Decreto 1608 de 1978, and Ley 1333 de 2009

Colombia protects its wild fauna and flora. Hunting, capturing, buying, selling, transporting, or exporting wild species or their products without a permit from the environmental authority is prohibited and penalised under Ley 17 de 1981 — which ratifies the CITES Convention —, Decreto 1608 de 1978, and the environmental sanctions procedure of Ley 1333 de 2009. Muisca does not include in its programmes any activity involving contact with, feeding of, or display of captive wild animals, and asks its guests not to buy souvenirs made from protected species.

Protection of the Nation’s cultural heritage — Ley 397 de 1997, Ley 1185 de 2008, and Ley 103 de 1991

Archaeological assets and assets of cultural interest belong to the Nation; their sale, export, or destruction is prohibited and penalised under Ley 397 de 1997 (the General Culture Law), as amended by Ley 1185 de 2008, and under Ley 103 de 1991. Muisca designs cultural experiences with respect for heritage sites, communities, and their traditions, and reminds its guests that they must not purchase archaeological pieces or remove objects from protected sites.

Smoke-free spaces — Ley 1335 de 2009

Under Ley 1335 de 2009, smoking is prohibited in enclosed public spaces, in health and educational establishments, and on public transport. The hotels, venues, and vehicles used in Muisca’s programmes apply this rule, and tobacco may be consumed only in areas expressly designated for it.

Consumer protection — Ley 1480 de 2011

Muisca Travel & Events SAS complies with the Consumer Statute (Ley 1480 de 2011): it provides clear, truthful, sufficient, and timely information about the services it offers, their prices, conditions, and restrictions; it honours the guarantee on contracted services as required by law and by the contract; and it maintains a channel for requests, complaints, claims, and suggestions (PQRS) described in section 4 of this notice. The Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio is the competent consumer protection authority.

In compliance with Resolución 3860 de 2015 and Decreto 2119 de 2018, which regulate the Registro Nacional de Turismo, Muisca displays its registration numbers — RNT 79106 and RNT 259770 — on this website, in its commercial documentation, and at its premises. The status of the registration can be verified on the RNT portal run by Confecámaras.

Sustainable tourism — Ley 2068 de 2020

Ley 2068 de 2020 establishes sustainability as a guiding principle of tourism activity. Muisca has a tourism sustainability policy whose commitments are summarised here: direct sourcing from local producers and suppliers; work with community hosts who receive fair remuneration; waste reduction and the elimination of single-use plastics in event operations; zero exploitation of wildlife; respect for the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the regions we visit; and training of our team and suppliers in these criteria.
